Missions calls for people of all talents. One area works hard behind the scenes and simply does not get the recognition it deserves. This is the kitchen.

Our trips include three meals and snacks for the entire team each day, and that work begins long before anyone ever steps foot on the mission field. As soon as a trip is planned, our kitchen volunteers get to work. They plan out every meal, figure out what foods pair well together, and find out who has allergies so they can make sure every meal accommodates them or that alternatives are arranged. They calculate how many people need to be fed and how many groceries it will take to feed the whole team for every single meal. Then comes the shopping, the packing, and once they arrive, the unpacking and organizing, all before the mission work even begins.

Once on location, the work continues. Meal prep starts before anyone else is even awake, and it does not end until late at night, when preparation begins again for the next day. Fueling the team to share the word of God, one meal at a time.

Our most recent mission trip to Rockaway Beach in Branson, Missouri was a true testament to how much the kitchen team supports everything happening behind the scenes. Have you ever thought about who is making all that food and how much planning goes into it? These ladies have it down to a science by now. Because of their hard work, our team never went hungry, and every meal was deeply appreciated after long days of serving in the mission field.
