From One Seedling to $6,921: How Katy Foust's Plant Day Sale Grew Into Something Amazing

What started as a simple idea, growing plants to raise money for charity, has blossomed into something far bigger than anyone imagined. We are blessed that Katy Foust chose Kids Against Hunger as the cause close to her heart, and we are honored to share her story.

It has been a joy to watch Katy bring this idea to life, working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for her big Plant Day Sale. With plants she propagated herself, along with generous cuttings and starts donated by friends and family, Katy spent hours planting, tending, and planning for a weekend that would go on to raise $6,921 for Kids Against Hunger, more than double her original goal.

As her father, Dan Foust Jr., shared:

"The best part was rolling up our sleeves alongside so many friends, family members, neighbors, church family, and volunteers to help pack meals that will soon be on their way to children and families facing hunger both locally and around the world. This fundraiser was never just about plants. It was about generosity. It was about community. It was about teaching a young girl that one person really can make a difference, and that when people come together behind a good cause, amazing things happen."

And amazing things did happen. From one small seedling of an idea grew a harvest of generosity that touched an entire community. Friends and family shared cuttings and starts from their own gardens. Neighbors became meal packers. A father and daughter became partners in ministry. And over one weekend, children and families around the world will be fed because one girl believed her small idea was worth planting.

God works in ways that are truly amazing. He takes the small, the simple, and the sincere, and multiplies it beyond what we could ask or imagine.

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow." — 1 Corinthians 3:6

Katy planted a seed. Her family and community watered it. And God gave the growth, turning one girl's plant sale into thousands of meals for the hungry.

Thank you, Katy, for reminding all of us that no act of generosity is too small to bear a great harvest.
